Should You Buy a Cheap LCD TV Monitor for Your PC?
People are starting to up-size their computer monitors to get more on them while they are working. It is quite common these days to have 4 or 5 windows going at the same time so you can Tweet, share on Facebook, check your stocks, see the score of the game and maybe, just maybe do some actual work as well. If you have a regular sized monitor, this is very difficult. A solution is to buy a cheap LCD TV monitor for your pc.
There was a time when this would have been totally ridiculous, but those days are long gone. Prices have come down so dramatically that you can get a cheap 30” TV for the same price as a 22” computer monitor. If you can get a bigger TV for the same price, why not use your digital LCD TV as pc monitor?
Of course, there are many advantages to doing this. Not only are you getting a much larger monitor for your pc, but you are also getting one that will have much better visual characteristics. Today, many people use their computer to watch videos and even watch TV. The fact is that you don’t really need cable any longer because most of the shows are simulcast right on the web. If you want, you can have your favorite show in one window and your work up on the last one.
This has gotten so popular that ESPN actually lost the TV broadcast for most of the events in the WSOP this year because people wanted to see them live online. For about 2 months, the internet was burning up with people watching live final table right over the internet. While they could not see the hole cards of the players, it was received very well.
And this is just the beginning. If you do some searching on the web, you will see station after station that now broadcasts the same thing that is on their cable station to the internet. Another example is the Tour De France. Versus had it on TV every day, but it was also live on the internet each and every day with bonus features that were not available if you were viewing on TV. This made it even more attractive for people to watch on the net.
Now if you take part in things like this, it may not be so wise to get a cheap LCD TV monitor for your pc. If you want to get the best out of your viewing experience, you will want to get one of the better LCD TV monitors so you can enjoy it just as you would a normal television show.
If you are only going to be doing light viewing and of course your computer work, a cheap LCD TV monitor will give you a better viewing screen and still probably give you much better quality viewing than a cheaper monitor would. Getting reception is never a bad thing and having something that can do double duty is just a smart move.
