Finding the Right LCD TV Monitor to Serve as Your Television and PC Monitor

The days of looking at a 12” computer monitor are over. Today, everyone has a big screen monitor. If you walk into some houses, it looks like a NASA Command Center because they have not one, but two monitors that are hooked up to their computer and then another LCD TV monitor that is hooked up to their laptop.

Now of course you can’t fall behind, so it is time to find the right LCD TV monitor that you can use as both your television and pc monitor. This is not as easy as you think as it can get a little challenging with so many sets to choose from. That and you really don’t want to go crazy because you can get a very good 22” monitor for about $200 these days.

Now if you are going to be using the LCD TV as PC monitor only, you can definitely go with something a little less expensive. Forget the 1080p resolution because unless you are going to be watching a lot of webcasts, there is no sense in putting out all of that extra cash. Instead, go with a 720p resolution model and you will be able to save significantly. In some cases, you will see a difference of well over $500 between monitors.

If you are going to be using it for both on a steady basis, such as having the monitor in a home office, you may be better served to go with a better set. You don’t want to suffer when you are watching the television as well, so it would make sense to get the better set. This enables you to watch a great TV and improve the size of your monitor when you have to.

Using an LCD TV monitor for the computer is the only real choice you should make though when considering this kind of monitor. You definitely do not want to use a plasma TV for something like this because it will get ruined. While most of them have anti-burn technology in them, a computer screen will more than likely have the same image on it for quite some time during a long session, especially if you are typing something up. The last thing that you want to do is have the task bar of your word processor burned into you TV for the rest of its life.

There are plenty of quality companies out there to consider when you want to use an LCD TV as PC monitor. Samsung has long been considered one of the best and affordable televisions in the industry and Sharp and LG will also give you pretty good value for your dollar. At times, it merely comes down to a brand that you are comfortable with.

Using your TV as a computer monitor is becoming very popular these days. People want more than just a small screen to do their work on and being a country of excess, it is being taken to the next level. 10 years ago nobody would have ever thought to see a work screen be over 40”, no it is the norm.
